Toledo torches San Diego State

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo took control early and never looked back, rolling past San Diego State 41-16 at the Glass Bowl. After falling behind 3-0, the Rockets erupted for 34 unanswered points behind quarterback John Alan Richter, who threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns, including scoring strikes of 78 and 38 yards to Bryson Hammer. Toledo piled up 494 yards of offense while its defense held the Aztecs to just 48 rushing yards.

The Rockets put the game away in the third quarter when Isaac Zay returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 34-3. Toledo forced two turnovers, held San Diego State to 3-of-14 on third down and improved to 3-1, while securing the 600th victory in program history and extending its home winning streak to nine games.
