Toledo Dominates Central Connecticut State

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Rockets returned to the Glass Bowl Saturday and ran over Central Connecticut State 63-10 with an explosive offensive attack and a defense that gave the Blue Devils virtually no room to operate. After CCSU turned an opening-kickoff fumble into an early 3-0 lead, Toledo took complete control, scoring 35 unanswered points before halftime and carrying a 56-3 advantage into the fourth quarter. Quarterback John Alan Richter delivered a solid performance, completing 15 of 24 passes for a career-high 252 yards and three touchdowns, highlighted by an 85-yard scoring strike to Rico Bond, who finished with four catches for 135 yards. Toledo tallied 569 yards of total offense—313 passing and 256 on rushing. The defense suffocated Central Connecticut State, holding the Blue Devils to just 139 total yards and seven first downs. Ten different Rockets contributed to Toledo's scoring as Mike Jacobs collected his first victory. The Rockets are now 1-1 on the season and have plenty of momentum heading into next Saturday's home matchup with Temple.
