Toledo host FCS Central Connecticut State in their home opener

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo returns to the Glass Bowl Saturday looking for its first victory of the season when the Rockets host Central Connecticut State. The Rockets enter the matchup following a competitive 30-20 loss at Michigan State in which they battled back to take a 20-19 lead before the Spartans pulled away in the fourth quarter. Central Connecticut State is also searching for its first win after opening the season with a 59-20 loss at South Dakota. Coming off consecutive Northeast Conference championships, the Blue Devils face another difficult road test against an FBS opponent, while Toledo will look to capitalize on its advantages in size, depth and athleticism. After showing it could go toe-to-toe with a Big Ten opponent, the challenge for Toledo is to eliminate costly mistakes, establish control early and turn a promising season-opening performance into the first victory of the Mike Jacobs era.
