Northwestern rolls over Central Michigan

In Friday’s Game Above Sports Bowl at Detroit’s Ford Field the Northwestern Wildcats defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas 34-7. After a scoreless first quarter the Wildcats forced three turnovers on successive plays to take a 21-0 lead and they never looked back. Griffin Wilde Northwestern’s Junior receiver was the game’s MVP after a two touchdown 10 reception game. Defensively the Wildcats held Central Michigan to 269 total yards, forced 4 turnovers with Braden Turner returning a fumble 47 yards for a score in the third quarter. Northwestern led 34-0 going into the fourth quarter before a late Chippewa score.
Central Michigan was led by Senior QB Joe Labas who passed for 178 yards with a touchdown on 21 completions. Langston Lewis was his main target catching 8 passes for 83 yards. Linebacker Jordan Kwiatkowski led the team in tackles with 8 on the day. Both teams finished the season with identical 7-6 records.
