ADA, Ohio — Ohio Northern’s turnover troubles proved costly Saturday afternoon as Mount Union capitalized on three Polar Bear fumbles and rode a six-touchdown performance from quarterback Mikey Maloney to a commanding 58-14 Ohio Athletic Conference victory. After a 7-7 first-quarter deadlock, the Purple Raiders erupted for 28 second-quarter points, highlighted by Lincoln Wade’s 11-yard fumble recovery touchdown. Maloney completed 18 of 26 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns while adding 57 rushing yards and two scores. Freshman receiver Brayden Harris hauled in seven receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Ohio Northern running back Jordan Pettaway provided an early spark, rushing for a team-high 76 yards on 10 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run that briefly tied the contest. However, Mount Union’s defense forced three turnovers and limited the Polar Bears to 221 total yards as the Purple Raiders secured their fifth consecutive victory, improving to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Ohio Northern fell to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the OAC.
