Broncos defeat the Chippewas to regain the Victory Cannon

Kalamazoo, MI 11/1/2025

The Central Michigan Chippewas (5-4, MAC 3-2) held a 14-7 lead at the half but couldn’t hold on as Western Michigan (5-4, MAC 4-1) scored the last 10 points to win 24-21 at home. The Bronco defense held the Chippewas to 55 yards rushing and 240 total yards. Going into Saturday’s contest Central Michigan averaged over 250 yards rushing per game. This was their lowest rushing total since their second game of the season at Pittsburg.  Quarterback Joe Labas went 8 of 11 passing for 152 yards including a 77-yard strike to Langston Lewis. Second leading rusher Nahree Biggins was held to 11 yards including a 1-yard run to open the game’s scoring.

Western Michigan’s duo of Sophomore quarterback Broc Lowry (82) and Junior Jalen Buckley (68) combined for 150 rushing and two touchdowns. Lowry passed 150 yards with a score as the Broncos keep their hopes alive for a birth in the MAC title game improving to 4-1 in conference play.
