#9 John Carroll advances in dominant fashion

                9th ranked John Carroll held visiting 20th ranked Randolph-Macon to 41 total yards in route to a 35-6 second round win in the NCAA Division III playoffs. In contrast to the Yellow Jackets output the Blue Streaks amassed 408 total yards while outgaining them 257-8 through the air and 151-33 on the ground. Quarterback Nick Semptimphelter had an outstanding day completing 31 of 33 passes with 3 touchdowns while adding one on the ground. Tyren Montgomery was his primary target on the day catching 9 passes for 84 yards and a score.

                Randolph-Macon’s only bright spot on the day was their opening drive. After John Carroll’s initial score Gavin Ross returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards to the Blue Streaks 11-yard line. Senior quarterback Dante Casciola scored on a 6-yard run but the extra point was missed. The Yellow Jackets were only 2-8 on third downs and only held the ball for 15:23. Defensively, three players recorded double digit tackles. They bow out of the playoffs at 9-2 on the season.
