Wabash College used a 69-yard touchdown drive in the final two minutes of the game to steal the victory from Ohio Northern on a jump pass for the two-point conversion winning 32-31. Wabash quarterback Jackson Gilbert threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns one the day, completing 27-48 passes. The Little Giants took an early 24-7 lead on a Chase Kannon 9-yard reception and looked like they were going to run away with the game until Ohio Northern used an 83-yard 11 play drive to cut the lead to 10. Then the Polar Bears added a late second quarter score to go into the half down 24-21.
Ohio Northern came out of the break scoring the only points in the 3rd quarter on a 27-yard Cody Dykes field goal completing a 17 play 78-yard drive. The Polar Bear running game consistently helped control the tempo of the game as senior Louie Blasiole rushed for 93 yards and Jordan Pettaway added 82, both backs had touchdowns. Senior quarterback Sam Feldman used precise throws to offset the running game going 17-31 for 203 with 2 touchdowns.
Early in the fourth quarter Blasiole scored on a 28-yard jaunt to give Ohio Northern their second lead of the game 31-24. After exchanging possessions Wabash went on their climatic 69-yard drive which ended with Nick Witte’s clutch touchdown with 2 seconds remaining. On the conversion Cole Dickerson faked running the ball then threw to a wide open Rowan Durban.
Ohio Northern finishes the season at 8-3 and Wabash College 9-2.
